RODENTS is a one-minute experimental short originally created for a silent film project at Concordia and later reworked with added sound. It follows a woman climbing an endless staircase. When she turns back, a red presence begins to chase her. She struggles against an unseen barrier before finally passing through it and continuing her descent.
The film is based on recurring dreams filled with rodents, movement, and invisible forces that resist control. These dreams inspired a visual meditation on freedom, fear, and psychological confinement. The work questions who governs the boundaries of one’s own mind and what it means to confront the subconscious as a tangible space. By translating dream logic into physical motion, RODENTS examines the delicate line between awareness and instinct, between what we choose to see and what forces itself into view.
Screened at MTL Montage (November 2024).
